The neighborhood was a big reason I stayed here, and I’ve booked it for two separate trips. It’s close to the airport and Point Loma, where I used to live. The Pearl, a beautiful tucked-away beach, is under two miles away, and you can walk to the laundromat, Miguel's, and Humphrey's for live music. Ralph's is a block away, which is handy if you’re watching your budget, and the bus route also reaches the beach and EoS gym, where weekly passes are inexpensive. I didn’t need a rental car, which saved me from paying about the same per day as a hotel night. There’s some traffic noise, and people sometimes hang around smoking nearby. Still, it’s San Diego, not New York, with sunny blue skies and 72-degree weather year-round. The place is clean and tidy, and the staff are pleasant and as attentive as you’d expect at an inexpensive motel. It’s no luxury property, but it’s a reasonably priced place in a city full of geographic perks. Keep expectations realistic, go to the beach, and enjoy.

The manager was incredibly kind and helpful, and the place was very clean. This is the best no-frills hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I’ll definitely come back to San Diego and stay here again.

Sam at the front desk was so kind. When I gave him my last name, he asked whether I’d also booked for the night before. I had, but my flight was delayed, and he told me he’d waited until 2:30am for me to arrive. I felt awful about that. He arranged an early check-in, and now my dog and I are relaxing peacefully in our room.

I needed a basic place near the airport around midnight, but the attendant wouldn’t honor the rate I saw online through Google. The shower had no hot water, and several calls to the front desk went straight to voicemail. When I finally reached someone days later, they insisted the water was fine. There’s nobody on site in the mornings to deal with guest problems. A poor experience, to say the least.

Check-in and checkout were easy, but the bathroom was dirty, the sheets were stained and smelled bad, and the AC unit was noisy. There’s no vending machine on the property.
