La Quinta Inn by Wyndham San Diego - Miramar

Service was courteous and easy, and there are plenty of food options nearby, including Starbucks, mcdonald's, and Mexican food within walking distance. The hotel is a big La Quinta with lots of parking and easy access to the 15. It was good value for the money, and I’d stay again if I needed a place. This isn’t fancy or somewhere I’d take kids for a vacation, but it worked well for a couple of nights in town for business. My room seemed recently renovated, was spacious, very clean, and had no odd smells. I liked the lack of carpet. The bathroom had wall-mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and there were lots of charging spots. The TV looked at least 50 inches. There’s a pool, though I didn’t use it. Breakfast could be better: nothing hot beyond toast or English muffins, plus coffee, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, juice, and yogurt. The walls are a little thin.

The room was large and clean, and the bed was comfy. I loved that there was no carpet. They provide shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, and breakfast is included. The breakfast could be better, but for the price it’s hard to beat. The hotel is just off the freeway, near plenty of food options, and about an hour from the Mexico border.

I’ve stayed here twice because it’s less than five minutes from my family and the rates are reasonable. The rooms are clean, but I didn’t know I had to tell the front desk if I wanted fresh sheets or daily room cleaning. They did take out the trash and replace the towels on my first stay, but not the second, so I had to call late at night when I got back to ask for fresh towels. The TV remote and microwave weren’t working either.

My six-night stay was a nightmare. The sink smelled nauseatingly bad, the toilet kept getting blocked, and I had to track down a hairdryer. Breakfast was awful, with no gluten-free options at all. I reported the problems to reception every day and got apologies but no action. They didn’t offer any compensation. Add the loud motor humming all night and the bad location, and I’d say save your money and stay somewhere else.
