LYFE INN & SUITES by AGA - San Diego Airport/Point Loma

Sleep was a challenge here, even though the beds were comfortable and the water pressure was good. The Point Loma location is hard to beat, but don't get a room facing the street. It was loud all night, and we could hear all kinds of conversations through the walls. Courtyard lights stay on all night, which is good for safety and appearance, but the thin window coverings let so much light in that our room stayed bright too. Service needs work. I got to the area early and asked to check in. The room was ready and had been empty overnight, so letting me in three hours early wouldn't have meant extra work. The desk staff member wanted $30, or $10 an hour, but said it would be $20 if I paid cash. It felt like a scam. I took my luggage to a nearby restaurant instead and had coffee and lunch for the same amount. Amenities are bare bones: there's an ice maker but no ice bin, soap but no shampoo, no coffee maker, washcloths, or fridge, and just two thin pillows per queen bed. Best of luck getting a good night's sleep.

The bed was decent, but the room felt like a typical motel with some cheap-looking updated fixtures, and the photos made it look better than it was. The AC wasn't very good, the tub was badly worn, and the old towels were tiny. There were no washcloths or shower soap, which seemed ridiculous. We got there around midnight on a Friday and found the parking lot completely full, so we had to park on the street. Annoying that late, though not the end of the world. We asked about a late checkout and were quoted $10 per extra hour. It felt like the front desk guy was trying to make quick money on the side, but since we'd arrived so late, we paid another $20 to stay until 1 pm. Fine for one night if all you need is somewhere to sleep, but I wouldn't stay longer.

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and everything seemed well organized. The hotel felt new, clean, and very comfortable. I had a great stay at lyfe inn and would come back.

We cut our stay short and had to find somewhere else because the place was so dingy and bad. The photos are extremely misleading, and when you arrive you can see how badly it's advertised. Our towels and sheets were stained and dirty, the fridge didn't work at all, and there were roaches around the unit, including a few in the bathroom. Disgusting. Save yourself the trouble and stay elsewhere. This place could ruin your vacation, and you'd regret staying here.
