PB Surf Beachside Inn

You can’t beat the location or the price. The beach is a one-minute walk away, there’s a rooftop deck with a view, and there are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, plus bike and surf rentals. I’d absolutely stay again. The staff were super friendly and the stay was great, but the internet barely worked. The place smelled a little off, and there wasn’t a desk or a good spot for bags. Still, for this price, it’s hard to complain too much.

The staff were welcoming, and they were available even when we checked in late. I’d gladly return to PB Surf Beachside Inn in San Diego. It’s a lovely spot, just a short walk from Pacific Beach, with restaurants nearby. The drawbacks were having to carry our luggage up to the first floor, a few electronics that needed maintenance, and a bathroom that could be more spacious. The location and helpful front desk made up for those things.

Carla at reception was fantastic. I’d made a big mess of my reservation, and she sorted it out quickly. I know where I’ll stay on my annual trips to PB, and I’m giving the place 117. PB Surf was a very pleasant stay. It’s not a fancy hotel, but our room was well kept and had what we needed, including a mini fridge and microwave. Mine didn’t feel old or run down, despite some reviews I’d read, though construction was happening in several rooms onsite. The location is a 10/10: the hotel is down the street from PB beach, an easy drive to La Jolla, and far enough from the area’s many bars to avoid their noise.

Jim listened to the issue I brought to him and quickly came back with a reasonable solution that worked for me and the establishment. His staff handled the situation professionally and were accommodating, too. I was pleasantly surprised by how positive the response was, and it’s convinced me to keep coming back. I’ve stayed here off and on for a few years. The location is great, and once you park, you can spend your whole stay without driving. Everyone, including housekeeping, has been friendly and helpful. I made an appointment to meet with manager Jim, hoping we could keep things positive, and he was ready to work something out. A good hotel matters, but so does how you’re treated when you arrive, leave, or have a valid issue. They were reasonable with me. Good business deserves a good review.
