The apartment itself was clean, new-looking and well maintained, but the parking situation and lack of on-site help made this a very stressful stay. I booked Starling Place Apartments through Hotels.com because the listing advertised free parking. A message about parking arrived at 3:45 PM while I was still at work, too late for me to sort anything out before check-in. When I arrived, I was told all spaces had already been assigned and none were available, even though the booking said parking was included. That hadn’t been made clear during or after booking. Staff replied politely and respectfully by text, but their answers felt dismissive and didn’t help. They kept saying parking was assigned and subject to availability, something I should have been told well before check-in. Street parking was the only alternative they offered, and it was full. I tried a spot that looked vacant as a temporary fix, but was threatened with a tow. I asked for help and tried to cancel, but got no workable solution. After a long day of travel and meetings, the whole situation was frustrating and stressful. There’s no front desk on site, which made it even harder to resolve. With the late parking message, the check-in instructions, no on-site support, and the misleading parking listing, I can’t recommend Starling Place Apartments. If parking isn’t guaranteed, it shouldn’t be advertised as a feature. I’d strongly advise checking availability directly with the property well before booking, and being cautious about relying on listed amenities.

The photos don’t show what the place is really like. The walls are paper thin, the area feels unsafe, and it badly needs a deep clean. The house rules you’re given also conflict with what’s posted, including quiet hours and laundry times. On top of that, you have to collect the keys from a different motel. I’d avoid the hassle and stay elsewhere.

I lived here for a year after moving from the East Coast. The room itself was great, and management communicated well and listened when I raised things. But the solutions weren’t always good. I paid $150 a month for a parking spot, yet other guests used it for several months. Management said they couldn’t call a tow or control who parked in a space I paid for. The walls are very thin, and my neighbors were ridiculously loud. For the rent, it didn’t feel worth it, especially with zero amenities. Getting my deposit back was another problem: it wasn’t returned within the timeframe stated by CA law, which management had cited to me. I had to follow up multiple times myself. Aside from those issues, it was an okay place, which is why I’m giving it two stars. Being right by the highway was convenient for commuting to work and visiting downtown.

We booked online, but no one told us how to get the room key. We had to drive to a different location to collect it, then drive back. At the front desk, the guy was rude and unhelpful and didn’t want to give us the key. We only got it after my dad called and argued with him. There’s no staff in the building where the rooms are, and this isn’t even a real hotel. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything around you. Around 1AM, I woke up to someone trying my door several times. Then somebody started screaming in the hallway. It sounded like someone was being attacked or worse. The place felt completely unsafe and sketchy. If you’re a woman or traveling with kids, I really wouldn’t risk staying here. It’s not worth the money or the safety risk. I honestly don’t understand how it’s still operating. Total disaster.

I had to book another hotel at 9pm because the parking information was wrong. I’d been told parking would be assigned at check-in, but when I got to the off-site office, I wasn’t given anything about parking. At the property, every space was reserved. I tried calling and texting with no response, then drove back to the office and was told no space had been assigned to me, so I’d have to find street parking. There was nowhere close, and I wasn’t comfortable walking blocks with my two kids or leaving the car in an unsafe area. The building was supposed to email check-in instructions, but I never got one. No one answered when I called, and after I texted, it took until the next day to get a reply. There was also only one key, which has to stay in the apartment for the power to work. I couldn’t leave my kids in the room while sorting out the car because they’d have had no power. They won’t issue a refund.
