We used the beautiful event space for our team gathering, and the greenery made a gorgeous backdrop for photos. The coffee and water station at the end of the hall was convenient and spotless. It was also an easy walk to nearby shops and places, and a very short Uber ride to the airport. My room was clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet despite what I’d read. I had no trouble sleeping. The staff were incredibly kind, especially Halley and Javari at the front desk, who were warm and helpful throughout. The team at The Witherby restaurant were great too, and the lox bagel at breakfast was chef’s kiss! Lovely location and stay. I’ll recommend it to friends heading to San Diego.
The service made this stay special. The concierge and staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and Jovannie stood out for his warmth and thoughtful help. Even the cleaning staff were incredibly kind. It felt like being welcomed into someone’s lovely home instead of treated like a customer. We stayed in mid-December, and the hotel felt charming, intimate, and full of character. It’s eclectic in a way that makes it feel special rather than generic. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed, and the restaurant was a very nice bonus. The location was fantastic, close to everything while still peaceful and cozy. I rarely leave Google reviews, but wanted to recognize Jovannie and the team. I’d happily return and highly recommend it.
We’re coming back for a second stay this summer and can’t wait. Gaslamp is a lovely historic hotel with a special charm and all the basics. The staff were welcoming, the room clean and inviting, and even the beds were comfortable. There are lots of areas within walking distance, and we were lucky to find free weekend street parking nearby. The prices are fair for what you get, especially in this area.
The location made it easy to enjoy the Gaslamp and get over to the marina, and there’s a handy coffee and tea station on every floor that’s open around the clock. The attached bar and restaurant downstairs is convenient too. The building has a lot of charm, the staff were very helpful, and the small rooms were cute and perfectly adequate. A couple of drawbacks: there’s no elevator, and parking is around the block, which makes loading and unloading tricky if the street has no open spots. Street noise can also be loud in an outer room.
The location was perfect, and I’d happily stay here again. What made the visit especially memorable, though, was Eddie at the front desk. He was kind, attentive, and clearly cared about looking after guests. His Christmas spirit made the holiday feel special, even though we were away from home. Working over the holidays can’t be easy, but Eddie went out of his way to make people feel welcome. I hope his effort gets recognized. He deserves a bonus for bringing some brightness to guests’ holidays.
