InterContinental San Diego by IHG

I’m glad this property lets guests rent microwaves, something I wish other Intercontinental hotels offered. The breakfast is pretty good, and the staff are helpful. Compared with the Intercontinental in Los Angeles, this one is much better. My main frustration is guest service calls. At this price point, it’s not great to have requests like towels handled by an overseas call center on another continent. Hotel phones should be answered by people at the property. When I’ve asked to be transferred to the actual front desk, some of the call center staff have given me grief.

I slept really well here. The room was clean and modern without trying too hard, and the mattress and pillows were genuinely comfortable. Service was friendly and polished throughout, and the rooftop bar is a memorable spot. The location made everything easy, with the marina nearby and entertainment, waterfront walks, and spontaneous plans all within reach. The gym is impressive, the rooftop pool is warm and feels like a getaway, and the on site restaurants keep things convenient. I’d absolutely come back. More on social media: @ratedbymaryam

Our three nights here were wonderful. Everyone we met on staff was warm and friendly, and the restaurant just off to the left has a dog friendly patio with great service. The hotel welcomed our two pups so wholeheartedly that it earned five stars from the start. Check in went smoothly, and our clean, comfortable room on the 14th floor had a great view. The hotel is in a great, walkable spot, with a fantastic grassy area for dogs on the west side by the harbor. I also loved the Byredo products in the room. They smelled fabulous, and I’d happily stay here again.

I was pleasantly surprised that my $58 hotel fee was waived because I’m an IHG Platinum member staying on a reward night. The hotel is beautifully decorated for the holidays, with a heated pool and lots of chairs and loungers. My room was spacious, clean, and stocked with complimentary water. There are nice restaurants on the property, and the location is great. I’d definitely recommend it.
