The view was amazing, 10/10, and the location was perfect for my concert venue. The front desk man was super helpful. They even offer free lodging to homeless people at times, and the people and service were great all around. The bathroom situation wasn’t ideal, but I’d come back for sure.

The worst part was the constant noise inside the hotel. We heard shouting and fights in the corridors all the time, apparently from people affected by alcohol or drugs. We stayed three days, but there was no breakfast, despite what the reservation said. We felt cheated. The area was full of people struggling with addiction who stayed by the hotel entrance around the clock, and the urine smell was awful. The hotel offered no service: we tried calling and messaging beforehand to ask where the nearby establishment was, but got no answer. The room was filthy. We’d asked for non-smoking, but the cigarette smell was unbearable. The bedding was dirty, there was only one bath towel and no face towel, and the air conditioning didn’t work. We tried opening the window, but the balcony was so dirty we worried rats might come in. For your safety, don’t book this place. It can’t be called a hotel, it’s a hostel.

The bathrooms were clogged and extremely dirty. The bedding hadn’t been cleaned, and the towels were used and stained. The location felt horribly unsafe, the service was disgraceful and disrespectful, and the man was so rude. The walls were so thin we could hear everyone. The worst experience ever. It was absolutely disgusting, almost a violation of human rights. I travel a lot, but this was the worst experience of my life. Never coming back. Do not go, you’d be better off homeless.

The place felt scary for anyone touring with luggage. When we arrived, we found out the bathroom was shared, even though the booking pictures and information showed a room with its own bathroom. The shared bathroom was blocked and filthy. Our room had so many sketchy things: a metal rod in the plug switch, a cigarette in the freezer, wires sticking out, a terrible smell, awful stains on the floor and mattress, holes in the covers, stains up the wall, and a mouse hole in the cabinet. We were too scared to leave at 1am, so we stayed that night. We’d paid for two more nights, but left without a second thought and had to pay to stay somewhere else. We never usually complain and are pretty easy to please, but this was the scariest, worst place we’ve stayed. We’ll be asking for a full refund. This isn’t acceptable!

I usually avoid writing negative reviews, but I feel I need to warn people about this place. The room was sweltering, despite the listing claiming there was air conditioning. I had one window, opening onto a wall. To cool the room, I had to arrive more than 90 minutes before bed and open it. I left it open overnight, but my neighbor kept yelling about my white noise machine, slamming her door, and throwing things at my window. Her window opened onto that same wall, so we could hear everything each other did. I can’t even blame her. If I had to live in a place like that, I’d be screaming and throwing things too. The listing and a sign in the lobby both promised free breakfast, and there were juice machines on the counter. But the Bay Hotel hasn’t served breakfast since the pandemic. The neighborhood is extremely notorious. You’ll encounter people in crisis as soon as you step outside, and hear them at night if you open the window to cool the room.
