Civic Center Motor Inn

I tried to book again because everything else was sold out, but their website wouldn't work and nobody picked up after I called ten times. My one stay there before was subpar, too. Wouldn't recommend it.

It's a handy, reasonably priced base for exploring central San Francisco and the tourist areas. The room could have been cleaner: we saw a cockroach crawl across the carpet and behind the fridge. When we reported that the door lock wasn't working, they replaced it fairly quickly. They also provided service when we asked, which was good. But despite what their Google Maps profile showed, there is no free breakfast.

The room was clean and comfortable, though it had a slight smell that could've been dog or damp. There weren't any tea supplies or facilities. It'd be great if they removed that from the website, since the coffee maker's hot water isn't boiling enough for tea.

For the price, this is a good deal. Most nights you can get everything included for $100 or less, and it's quieter than many places nearby. The security fence also made the parking lot feel safer. I felt safer here than at other inexpensive hotels in the area, and it's close to most major transit, with quick expressway access.
