I wouldn’t stay here again. When we arrived, the room looked old and out of date, and there was no air conditioning. The mold and mildew smell in the hallway got much stronger after we closed the door. Opening the windows didn’t feel safe either because there are no screens. The mattress looked like it should have been thrown out 20 years ago. The surrounding streets also made us uncomfortable. There were unhoused people along the street, garbage, drugs, and people urinating outside. The area looked crime ridden to us. We booked through Expedia, and they were able to arrange a refund so we could move to another hotel. Please read the other reviews and do your research first. I wish I had. Update: I checked in less than a week ago. If the response from staff was describing improvements, I can’t imagine what it was like before.

The staff were lovely and accommodating, but our room clearly hadn’t been cleaned, bedding included. The elevator also hadn’t been inspected in over a decade. My partner and I don’t usually leave a hotel without a good reason, but we booked somewhere else the same night we arrived. It has a fun retro look, but the cleanliness and safety weren’t okay. Maybe it could work for a quick overnight if you’re leaving in the morning.

I felt unsafe here and wouldn’t come back. The second-floor room we got was dirty: the tub, floor, and windows all needed cleaning. It was very dated, with a lot of maintenance issues, and the thin blanket couldn’t keep us warm. We could hear people upstairs and outside talking, showering, and walking, and the hallway smelled strongly of urine and dampness. The TV mostly had old movies and shows. We had gone back to reception after our first room key wouldn’t open the door. The guests next door had their door wide open, and a man was standing there in his underwear, which was already a red flag. We asked for a closer room because our first room was on the sixth floor, and got moved to the second. The first night was so loud we barely slept. We planned to check out at 4 a.m. to catch our flight, but left at 1:30 a.m. because the people next door were yelling and slamming doors. Staff did nothing about the noise. At check-in, my friend and I had thought, “It’s not a five-star hotel, but it’ll do.” That changed fast. I don’t remember ever feeling so unsafe, even with my friend there. We were crying and left after two nights, then booked another hotel for the rest of the trip. We contacted Expedia, but they could only ask the manager for a refund. He denied it and, according to us, gave Expedia a different account of his behavior. He said he’d explained the laws politely, while we remember being yelled at and threatened with the police and a city blacklist. We then asked our bank to dispute the charge. Don’t waste your money. If the owners see this, we want our money back, especially given how unsafe we felt.

We arrived in the early afternoon and were first put in a room with construction underway. There was a ladder in the middle and tools scattered around, so they moved us next door. That room may have been clean, but the whole hotel smelled stale and moldy. Then the work started, sending dust around and triggering our asthma. We asked for a refund, but they refused because of their policy. We found another hotel and filed a claim with Amex. We’d suggest avoiding this place and spending a little more on a known hotel group. We ended up at the BEI (Wyndham affiliate) and had a great stay.

I liked the room’s retro look, and the bathroom had the same feel. The bed was alright, and the TV was huge, but the walls were thin and the person next door kept their TV blasting until 6 a.m. There was no coffee pot either. My main problem was the lack of air conditioning and the fact that the windows couldn’t be opened. There were pieces of wood on the window tracks to keep them shut. The room had a vintage style, which I liked, but the stay wasn’t good overall.
