Motel 6 San Jose, CA - Convention Center

I’ve stayed here many times over the years without trouble, but I won’t be coming back after this. My stay from 11-7 to 11/9 went smoothly, with quick check-in and checkout. The desk person said everything was fine, and I was told the $50.00 incidental hold would be returned. It’s now been 10 business days and the money is still missing. The Motel’s GM said they’d released it and that my bank was holding it. My bank told me the Motel hadn’t released the funds, which is why the amount still shows as charged and posted on my account. It’s only $50.00, but I can’t trust this establishment after this unresolved issue.

The manager was so helpful and kind, and handled a lot at once. Thank you, ma'am! The property was clean and quiet, which meant we could get the rest we needed while my husband was staying for business. I never woke up from outside noise or other guests. There are lots of businesses and shops nearby, plus a couple of coffee shops and a bakery next door. Great Motel 6, with clean rooms and grounds.

This was a horrible stay. The room didn’t match what was advertised, smelled strongly of smoke despite my booking a non-smoking room, and had bedspreads with cigarette burns. There were transients hanging around the parking lot, and it looked like someone had painted over stains on the wall. Just be aware that if the place isn’t to your liking, you only have 30 minutes to cancel.

The office staff were rude, there were roaches, and TV choices were limited to local channels. Cleaning was sparse during my long stay, and I came back one day to dirty towels and an unmade bed. This was my first and last time at this M6. They’re not all like this one, but I’d only stay here again if there were no other options, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
