San Jose Airport Inn

With four kids, we quickly ran out of soap and towels after checking in. I called the front desk, and within minutes they brought enough supplies and towels to get the children squeaky clean. Great service. The rooms were large and clean, the rate was reasonable, and the light rail stop is right across the street. Highly recommend.

I came for a soccer game and was pleasantly surprised, especially after reading the Yelp reviews beforehand. The room was nicely decorated and smelled clean, and the lobby was my favorite, also very well decorated. The hotel itself was very clean, the front desk staff were friendly, and I slept well. Having a Denny's right next door is a nice bonus in the morning.

The staff were pretty nice, but the first thing you notice in the lobby is an old, weird smell. The hallways smelled terrible too, and the carpet, fixtures, pictures, and decor all looked really outdated. It was a long walk to our room, where we found an inch-and-a-half cockroach right outside the door. My wife nearly flipped. We paid $130 a night and there was no breakfast, so we won’t stay again. The area didn’t look or feel great, though I’m not familiar with it and could be wrong. The pool was closed when we arrived. We’d planned to swim the next day before heading to the airport, so we went to look at it anyway. It was a great size, but up close it looked mucky and really dirty. Such a disappointment.

At $83 a night, I was happy enough with the clean room, decent bed, and how easy it was to get around with the freeway so close. The maids were friendly and would give the room extra TLC if you asked nicely. But that musty bathroom smell is everywhere, including the whole room, and it may keep me from coming back. The place really needs updating. I can put up with old decor and a tube TV, but that smell is hard to ignore.
