The staff were incredibly friendly, and Diana and Diane let us check in early. The lobby had coffee, breakfast muffins, and fruit. The pool was small but nice for relaxing and enjoying the weather while others in our party showered. The hotel is a little dated, but it was clean and suited our budget. We felt secure, and the location was perfect. There were a few places we could have walked to for food, though having a car was recommended for reaching the beaches. We mostly used the room to sleep and get up, and appreciated the in-room coffee maker and fridge. It worked perfectly for our early mornings and days out, and exceeded our expectations for the price. We'll be back!

The road made some noise, as you'd expect at this kind of hotel, but closing the windows took care of it. The room stayed clean and comfortable throughout, and it was spacious, spotless, and well cared for. I especially liked having a private balcony. The shower was modern and easy to use, with excellent water pressure. I had a lovely stay, and the hotel surpassed what I expected.

Everything else was fine and the room was clean, but I couldn't sleep on the ground floor. The people upstairs sounded like dinosaurs stomping around. The noise was so loud I could feel the ceiling shake. The walls are thin too, so it felt like being in a shared room. It's a building issue, but the front desk wouldn't move me when I complained. If they give you a ground-floor key, ask to switch to upstairs, maybe the third floor.

The location was great, and the front desk staff were very friendly. The room furnishings had a garage-sale feel, and things are dated, but it was clean. The beds were comfortable, which mattered to us. We'd probably stay again.

Hotel Buena Vista gave us a fair price and straightforward service when we arrived in SLO around 1 a.m. Most other hotels were full, and the ones that weren't wanted to charge ridiculous late or post-midnight check-in fees that effectively made us book two nights. Our room was clean and didn't smell of smoke. We checked out a few minutes late the next day without any trouble. Great staff and a great experience. I'd recommend it to anyone needing a room at the last minute.
