Inn at San Luis Obispo

We stayed here on 11/22/25. The Manager put us in a room above the office, maybe 200 or 201, though I can't be certain. It was disgusting and dilapidated, falling apart from floor to ceiling, and smelled strongly of urine. The refrigerator was unplugged and warm, so he had to come up and fix it. At least the bed linens appeared clean. The towels were stained and worn out. This was our worst stay in SLO. Avoid it.

The front desk person wouldn't give his name and was completely disrespectful. He mocked someone on a business trip because the guest wasn't paying for the room himself, and also made fun of him for sleeping in his truck while waiting to come inside. He started yelling at the front desk to have the guest kicked out, and said he didn't care about losing his job or getting any money for being in the room. I've booked this hotel in other cities many times without problems. If I owned this hotel, I'd take a hard look at who I'd hired for customer service.

The first room had a horrible chemical smell. I switched rooms, but the odor was almost as bad, and I stayed even though I thought better of it. Three days after I got home, I had bedbugs. This was the only place I stayed on the trip. Stay away!

I'm writing about what happened on October 19 with my son's reservation and the unprofessional response I got when I tried to resolve it with hotel staff. At around 10:00-10:30 p.m., my son booked a room for himself and his girlfriend so he wouldn't have to drive home late. They arrived shortly afterward, but the hotel doors were locked. No one greeted them or answered after they rang the bell several times, so with no staff available to check them in, they had to drive home for safety. Today I called to ask for a refund because they never used the room after the hotel failed to provide check-in staff. The staff member gave several excuses, including that the reservation name didn't match the card. I explained the card was mine and the payment came from my account, so it should be refunded since no service was provided. He refused and insisted it was a “no-show.” When I asked him to check the camera footage, which would clearly show my son at the door, my son waived at the camera, but the owner became combative, raised his voice, and spoke to me in a degrading, dismissive way, telling me to “listen to him.” His behavior was disrespectful, unprofessional, and completely
