We had a room on the spot thanks to Hamed, who checked his computer when we arrived without a reservation at 12:30am on a Sunday. Our road trip had hit an unexpected snag, and he was gracious, professional, and kind. The room was spacious, stylish, clean, and comfortable. At that hour, we mostly cared about the cozy blankets and comfy beds. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. There’s also a sheltered patio by the breakfast room, with a huge magnetic Scrabble board and a wall-mounted Lite-Brite. This is going to be our go-to hotel when we’re in San Luis Obispo. Highly recommend.

The Wayfarer has been my reliable SLO spot for work, more than 10 stays now, and they recently came through again when I needed a last-minute room. Staff are always friendly and easy to work with, and it’s comfortable and good value. Downtown is a short walk away. I like catching a game at the sports bar, or settling by the fireplace if that’s more your thing.
8/10
The place is nice and kid-friendly, with shuffleboard, games, and TVs. They were really nice about letting us switch out of the first room, which wasn’t clean and had an odor. Unfortunately, the restroom in the replacement room smelled like urine.
10/10
I spent a week here and would happily come back. The place was clean and in excellent shape, with nicely appointed rooms and a convenient location. It has a hip, friendly feel, and the food at the on-site Schoolyard restaurant was tasty in a warm setting. Austin at the front desk also handled my special requests. The property exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.
10/10
The staff and manager were really attentive when I ran into an issue with the third party I booked through, and helped get it sorted out. The hotel is comfortable, reasonably priced, and centrally located for getting around SLO. I had a great experience and will definitely be back.
