Breakfast came with the stay and had plenty of choices, so it was easy to find something before heading out. My room was quiet, clean, and laid out nicely, with a comfortable bed and surprisingly good pillows. I slept better than I expected while traveling. The fourth-floor corner room was a small upgrade and felt private and comfortable, though the view wasn't much to look at. The Hampton Inn & Suites in San Mateo felt safe, and the neighborhood did too. Service was great from check-in on. I’d happily stay here again.

We didn't worry about leaving the car overnight, and the location worked well for places we needed to reach within 30 minutes. There were conveniences close by, too. The breakfast was soooo good for a hotel breakfast. Our room was spotless, with a great shower, good temperature control, bright lighting, a nice TV with lots to watch, useful storage, a mini fridge, and a microwave. We stayed two nights and asked for extra towels. The front desk communicated well, answered our questions easily, and had the extra towels ready in the room beforehand. Everything exceeded my expectations. By far, I couldn't ask for more!

Breakfast was great, and there's a retail park next door with lots of places to eat. I slept well, too. The room was a good size and had the usual amenities, plus coffee, tea, a fridge, and even a wet bar. Check-in staff were great. It's a very new, spacious building, and it looks good.

The main drawback is the highway location. If you need to walk anywhere, you have to cross the highway. Otherwise, the rooms are spacious, modern, and clean. The gym has the basics, and the staff are very helpful. It's a three-year-old hotel, a good choice if you want somewhere basic and clean.

I’ve stayed at hundreds of Marriotts, and this one was a huge hassle. I travel for work and needed the government rate with taxes waived, as required for official government travel. They said that was fine, but charged me about a month later. If they'd told me right away, that would've been manageable. By then, though, I had to pay out of pocket and couldn't get reimbursed for it. It turned into a whole back-and-forth by email, sending IDs and dealing with extra work I shouldn't have had to do. Management eventually ghosted me.
