Hampton Inn & Suites San Mateo-San Francisco Airport

We booked mainly for the hotel's location near the airport, free parking, and breakfast, and they let us check in early without a late fee. But on arrival, they said the free parking policy had changed and started charging members and non-members a daily fee. The front desk staff didn't mention that street parking was free unless I asked. Otherwise, they seemed ready to charge us for a spot. There was also a note on the entrance doors about dust from ongoing renovation, but no dates were given. Since the hotel is next to the freeway, there's highway noise, so don't expect a quiet room.

The free hotel breakfast was probably the best I've ever had. The eggs were different in a good way, the bacon was great, and the hash browns beat McDonald's. They even serve burritos. Staff at the front desk were quick and really pleasant. The room's AC can get very cold, down to 55 if you want, and the hallways were cool too, with a nice, clean smell. One of the best hotel stays I've had.

A really nice area, close to a Golf Course, a beautiful park, and a trail along the beach. The stay was great, but I gave four stars because there was an offer for a $50 voucher after three nights and no one told me about it. Even when I asked, the receptionist just gave me a phone number to call. Come on, if the client stayed, paid, and was a good guest, why should they have to call anyone to get the voucher? That's it.

I wanted to give this hotel another chance, but I'll book somewhere else next time. The front desk service still hasn't improved since I complained before. Today I asked for the password to use the business room computer, but the woman at the desk was talking with someone and wouldn't help until she finished. I waited a couple of minutes, then left because it didn't seem like she'd get to me. It takes seconds to give someone a password, but I was left standing there listening to her talk and take her time with everything. The hot tub was completely closed this time. On my last visit it looked disgusting, but at least then it was an option.
