Courtyard By Marriott Sand City Monterey

The room was beautiful and spotless, with a stylish, comfortable feel. We especially liked the smart TV choices, including Netflix and Prime, the dependable WiFi, and a bed and comforter that made it easy to unwind. The hotel was modern, thoughtfully decorated, and very well cared for. We were celebrating Valentine’s Day, and Erick at the front desk made us feel welcome right away. He was attentive, polite, and professional, and kindly upgraded our room, which made the occasion even more memorable. The whole team maintained a high standard of hospitality. The suite’s kitchenette was fully equipped, including a dishwasher, and Costco was close by. I also enjoyed the free one-hour e-bike rental. Inside, the tall ceilings and spacious shower without a door stood out, as did the patio and balcony. Even though I could hear a neighbor’s TV from the hallway, the soundproofing kept my room completely quiet. For such a new hotel, it’s exceptionally well managed. The staff were great at check-in and in the restaurant and bar. The property feels roomy, and the amenities made for a really enjoyable stay.

We liked the hotel so much that we added another night to our trip. The heated outdoor pool was warm enough to enjoy in January, and there was also a big hot tub, fire pits, and a spacious courtyard. Live music on our first evening was a lovely surprise. The property felt safe and was clean and well maintained. Everyone we met, from the front desk to the restaurant, housekeeping, and maintenance teams, was friendly. My four-year-old daughter and I were visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and this was a great place to stay. We’ll come back on future Monterey trips.

There’s music in the courtyard on Friday and Saturday nights, and throughout Sunday, so if you’d rather have a quieter room, ask the front desk for one on the other side. We stayed for the weekend. The hotel is brand new, the room was clean and smelled fresh, and the staff were friendly and responsible.
