La Posada Lodge & Casitas, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Breakfast was real food with plenty of choices and a gorgeous view. The on-site restaurant had a distinctive Southwestern feel and looked out over the city, with a great sunrise view. The rooms and property had lots of appealing little touches that made the place feel more like home than a standard big-chain hotel. The price was very competitive too. I think I’ve found my regular place. Definitely recommend it.

The property has charm, but the rooms need money spent on them. The second night we were moved to a Casita, and its bed was better than the one in our first room, though neither bed was comfortable. The first mattress had deep dips on both my side and my husband’s, and I slept poorly. After getting our RV repaired the next morning, I told the front desk I couldn’t sleep in that room again. The employee understood and offered the Casita plus a refund of our $50 resort fee, which I accepted. The Casita had carpet, which I really don’t like since it can collect all kinds of who-knows-what. Its windows and sills were filthy, and the fan was dusty enough that I doubt it could work properly. The rooms have clearly had major updates, and the staff and front desk area were nice, but those beds and interiors need improvement.

I enjoyed my three nights at LaPosada and would recommend it. The room was comfortable, with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, a couple bottles of water, and a tasty cookie. The bathroom was small but fine, and the pool and spa area were lovely. The breakfast is the one thing that needs improvement. It doesn’t compare with what other chain hotels offer.

The views are wonderful, and the hotel itself is really pretty. Breakfast was very good, and the woman serving it kept bringing out more food. The restaurant was nice too. The gym felt small and underwhelming, though. I’d recommend staying here and would definitely come back.
