Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Sandusky

There were lots of little things that felt off. The bathroom hooks were crooked, the mirror was glued to the back of a door and the glue had damaged it, and the TV wasn't mounted right and looked like it might fall. The mattress was very soft around the edges but not in the middle. The building also seems poorly put together, with thin walls that let you hear the neighbors clearly.

We were told the room would cost $180, but when I checked the bill later it was over $300. The credit card terminal doesn't show what you'll really be charged when you pay. Support was rude when we called and even hung up on us. Better off at the cheapest nearby hotel than dealing with these scammers.

The room was comfortable, though a little dark even with all the lights on. Staff were friendly at check-in, and there are several chain restaurants nearby along with a few fun local spots. Walmart is right behind the property, handy if you need something. I haven't tried breakfast, sadly, but the pool looks inviting and the gym is well stocked.

That Harley Davidson store next door was unbelievably loud. The room itself was good, but the bathroom lighting was very poor and the chairs could be more comfortable. Breakfast was okay, though nowhere near a Holiday Inn Express: about a third as many choices and shorter hours.
