Tru By Hilton Sandusky

The staff were wonderful and let me check in early when our volleyball games ended ahead of schedule. The hotel was clean and we had a great overnight stay. The walls are thin, so you hear a lot, and the showers only get so warm before the hot water seems to run out.

The hot breakfast was fresh, and the morning staff were friendly while keeping the stations stocked. In room 124, the bed was comfortable, the room was spacious and smelled clean, and it was close to the pool. The bathroom had modern Moen fixtures. I liked being able to check in and choose my room in the app; it was seamless and convenient. Glad Sandusky has a few Hilton hotels now. This one beats the budget options nearby.

The staff were cheerful, fun, and always ready to help, and the breakfast area had plenty of hot food and very good coffee. I also liked the bright look of the carpet-free floors. The bedroom and bed were comfortable, and having a walk-in shower was easier and safer for me than stepping over a tub. Tru by Hilton Sandusky delivered on the amenities it lists and made our stay pleasant. I’ll choose it again when I’m in the area.

The front desk staff tonight were rude and acted as if serving my family and me was a bother. They didn’t speak to us, just stood talking and looked at us like we were interrupting them. It felt like they were treating us this way because of our skin color. The lobby furniture was worn, dusty, and dingy, and the hotel smelled putrid. Around midnight, people were slamming doors and running up and down the hall. This was awful, and they don’t deserve the Hilton name. I won’t stay at a Tru again. I gave one star because zero wasn’t an option.
