Best Western Sandy Inn

For a three-star hotel, the quality and price felt right. It's a small, simple place with kind staff, plus a great pool and hot tub. Breakfast had the classic hotel buffet setup: a waffle maker, cereal, different kinds of toast, yogurt, and a few hot foods like eggs and ham. It worked perfectly for a short Mt Hood visit with our young kids.

We were there mid-week and it was really quiet. The room was plain but very clean, and the staff were friendly. The indoor pool and hot tub are open 24/7, and breakfast was fresh with lots of tasty choices. It's a nice little hotel, and I'd stay again or recommend it. The parking lot is shared with a Safeway and several fast-food places.

The room looked clean at first, but after sleeping there the side of my face broke out in a rash. In the shower I found actual hair on the ceiling. When I went to take a photo, I saw dust and mold near the top, along with more hair. Breakfast was cold too: the food was sitting in warmer trays that weren't turned on. I tried a few bites of an egg, sausage, and biscuit I'd put together, but couldn't finish because it was cold and I felt like it might give me food poisoning. The receptionist was outside talking with a group of women when we arrived, wearing a wife beater with her bra showing. That's not acceptable work attire. I'm fine with people wearing their own clothes, but seriously, a wife beater? We paid over 200 dollars for one night at a chain hotel, and this wasn't what I expected. Maybe they should retrain or talk to the staff, though I doubt it would go anywhere. There's not enough parking, and the lot is congested and shared with a McDonald's, kids dental, weird deli, and Safeway. It feels like nobody cares about the hotel or thinks about it, so people just do whatever they want. Edit: That was the weakest response from a business ever. Do NOT waste your money here.

I loved the service, and having the pool and hot tub available 24 hours was great. The fridge and coffee pot in my room didn't work.
