Park Place Inn and Cottages

We were sorry to stay only one night and can’t wait to return. The rooms felt spacious, comfortable, and cozy, with lovely antique pieces throughout. There were two beautiful bedrooms, each with a half bath, plus a huge third bathroom just steps away with a magnificent soaking tub. The charm carried through that room too. From the porch, garden, and patio to the easy check-in, the place felt special from the moment we arrived. If you’re after something romantic, cozy, and nostalgic, this is it.

Room 1307 worked really well for us. It was very clean and set up for disabled guests, with a studio-apartment feel. We were close to the historic district, its great shops and restaurants, and the open-air market on Saturdays. There were books to read, though a few games on the shelf would’ve been nice for evenings or bad weather. It turned cold while we were there, so the electric heater helped, and the fan was useful on warmer days. We didn’t need to use the wall unit. A plug with USB ports would be handy, so bring a charger with a cord for now.

We stayed to see our daughter perform at the Boots & Roots Festival in Sanford. The inn was clean, cozy, quiet, and very nice, in a mostly residential part of Sanford several blocks south of the shops and market near Lake Monroe. Online check-in and checkout were convenient. We never saw or spoke with anyone managing the inn, even though we arrived around 7 p.m. I would’ve liked a greeting and a bit of information, so that was the one thing that kept my service rating to four stars.

Set in old Historic Sanford in a residential neighborhood, the location is great, about a pleasant ten-minute walk from downtown. The beds were clean and comfortable. I prefer a place like this to a generic chain hotel out on the edge of town, especially if you enjoy the feel of “old” Florida. We met the managers, who are salt-of-the-earth people. I’d definitely recommend it.
