Budget Inn Santa Ana

The location was ideal, at the end of Fisherman's wharf beside Ghibelline Square. We spent our last two nights here, and really enjoyed it. The staff were always friendly and ready to answer questions. The nautical decor looks new and carries through the hotel, though the rooms themselves are pretty basic. Our window looked onto a restaurant courtyard that could get a little noisy at night, but it wasn’t a big deal. I’d stay here again.

For a tight budget and a decent night’s sleep, this motel is an acceptable choice. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the A/C worked well, and there was a microwave and mini fridge. It’s in the budget part of town, but I saw no problems. There are two quiet adult businesses across the street. As a former bodyguard, I may look at that differently, but I wouldn’t worry about it. The manager is stern but pleasant, and seems to keep a tight ship so the place stays clean, safe, and above board. I found it better than the Days Inn up the street by Disneyland. The Holiday Inn Express near Disneyland didn’t even have a microwave in the room.

There was no hot water, and the water pressure was poor. Management told me to change the shower head. I declined, and they got rude and angry. The towels looked like they hadn’t been changed in months or years. The first room was dirty, with a big toenail on the nightstand, so they moved us. The next room was even worse, with a sticky floor and crumbs everywhere. This place should be a last resort, if that. I’ll never stay here again.

I was really impressed by how honestly the staff handled my lost phone. I apparently dropped it in the parking lot, and the maid turned it in. The front office charged it for me, then had me describe it and show my DL before returning it. Thank you so much, Budget Inn! The location is great for nearby attractions like Disneyland. Our room was clean and a nice size, with two double beds and a mini-fridge. The pool looked very clean, but it wasn’t heated and was too cold to swim in.
