MainStay Suites John Wayne Airport by Choice Hotels

The room itself was spacious, clean, nice, and had everything, with a comfortable bed and a quiet atmosphere. But the wifi was absolutely useless, and the hotel didn't care about it at all. Want all the frustrations of dial-up? Stay here. Hotels only need to get a few basics right: cleanliness, a comfy bed, a quiet room, decent internet, and plenty of plugs near the bed and couch. They got one of those completely wrong and clearly didn't care. That's bad.

We picked this place because it was close to Revival Today Church and had a kitchen, and we felt very blessed by the stay. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, freshly made to order and served efficiently. The price is unbeatable, and if you're around Orange County, honestly don't bother looking anywhere else. After traveling from coast to coast and north to south as a family, this was our best experience by far. Walking in, we were surprised to find what felt like a penthouse on the top floor, like a resort, with a balcony. The BEST OF OC!!!

For my first stay, the location felt relatively safe and was super convenient, close to all the places I wanted to visit. Right away, Cesar at the front desk welcomed me with sincere politeness and kindness, which made me feel confident and happy about staying here. My stay was pretty awesome. The breakfast setup was unusual: you order cafeteria-style, then staff plate your food behind the counter. The eggs and potatoes were disappointing, worse than store-bought frozen meals. The kitchen staff were polite and hardworking, but the system and food quality need a serious rethink. Still, it was a pleasant, comfortable stay for the price. The older property is well maintained, with lovely flowers around the grounds, and the attentive, friendly staff made check-in easy. My clean, spacious room had two TVs, a microwave, a full-size fridge, and a balcony. The bathroom sink was oddly in the sleeping area, likely because of the building's older design and past renovations, and there were holes in the curtains. Parking was plentiful and free, and the area felt safe, surrounded by other hotels. Just don't come for the breakfast.
