Beach Street Inn and Suites

The stained bed sheets were the only thing that took away from an otherwise very positive stay. We had a good time at Beach Street Inn and Suites, especially with the location right across from the beach. We spent the morning at the ocean, had the pool in the afternoon, then walked to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for the arcade and live music. The hotel felt like a great value, especially for a Friday night. The bathroom was spacious and nicely designed, and there was free water, ice, and guest laundry. Free coffee, ice shaves, and popcorn were a nice surprise for the whole family. The location and amenities make it a convenient, comfortable option for enjoying Santa Cruz.

We had a shared patio overlooking the ocean, but a couple of neighbors smoked outside their room a lot. The wind carried it past our room and inside whenever the window was open, which was the main downside. We still plan to come back. The room was clean, the beds were cozy enough, though my wife didn’t like the pillows. It had a good mini-fridge, microwave, counter, and sink. Bring an air fryer and you could save on eating out, especially with Trader Joes fairly close by. Friendly, helpful workers, free caffeine drinks for the adults, and free popcorn and snow cones that my son loved. We stayed a couple nights in November, three of us, and liked being able to play at the beach until we got cold, then walk across the street and up the stairs to warm up in the hot jacuzzi. The location was great, right across from the beach, with a few places to eat within walking distance.

The views were impeccable and the cleaning was perfect, but the service was what really went above and beyond. Big thanks to the GM, Nicole, and her staff for looking after guests and making my special weekend amazing. I’ll absolutely be back.

I regretted choosing this place within minutes of checking in. The reviews felt really misleading, so I wanted to write this: be careful, it isn’t as great as many reviews make it sound. There was an unexpected $22 parking fee. The bathroom wouldn’t close or lock properly, and several beach and sea-themed fixtures in the room were loose and falling off. One front desk staff member was so loud on the phone it was hard to talk with the other staff. The only things worth praising were the location next to the wharf and the popcorn and snow cones.
