Two weeks before our Valentine’s Day trip, and about two weeks after I booked, the bed and breakfast called around 8pm to say they couldn’t host me because of “renovations.” The woman suggested I cancel and come the week before since it “would be less busy anyways,” as though I could just change my other plans and reservations. The call felt even sketchier because the person gave me very specific instructions on how to cancel through my booking agency so the fault wouldn’t land on them. I called again the next morning to clarify and got no answer. I tried twice more while chatting with Expedia support, still no answer. Having to find somewhere else to stay two weeks before Valentine’s Day was really frustrating. Wouldn’t recommend this place.

The fresh breakfasts and easy walk to the beach were a lovely part of our stay at Cliff Crest Bed and Breakfast. We stayed in The Empire Room, which was comfortable and a joy to return to after being out for the day. Adriana, the owner and host, was accommodating, hospitable, and a bright presence throughout. The place has all the quaint warmth and charm you hope for from a B&B. If you want a distinctive Santa Cruz stay where you feel welcome, this is the one.

Adriana and Constantin were gracious and friendly hosts. My fiancée and I stayed there this past weekend, and the apricot room was comfortable and well appointed. We had plenty of pillows and blankets, a private bathroom, good water pressure, and hot water. On our way to Santa Cruz our car broke down, so we called to cancel. They kindly offered us a rain check, but we managed to make it in a different car, many hours later than planned. Adriana stayed up until nearly 11pm to check us in and get us settled. I noticed that one of the watercolor paintings in the room was signed by Adriana. When I asked her about it over coffee the next morning, I learned she’s an incredible artist, with paintings and sculptures throughout the property. It was a treat to hear about her art. Adriana and Constantin were hosting a celebration for the Inn that morning and invited us to join the feast, but unfortunately we had to leave. We’ll definitely be back to Cliff Crest!

Adriana and Constantin were welcoming and accommodating, and their home felt cheerful, clean, and comfortable. My fiancée and I stayed there on a short Santa Cruz trip this past weekend. Our room had its own bathroom and plenty of pillows and blankets. We also had private off-street parking, and the house is in a great spot near the Boardwalk in a really quiet neighborhood. Adriana is a wonderful artist, and her paintings and a beautiful sculpture are displayed throughout the property. She and Constantin were hosting a special celebration and invited us, but we had to head back to Los Angeles. Cliff Crest Inn is cozy and very reasonably priced. I’d highly recommend it, 5+ stars!
