Jessica at the front office made sure we were looked after when our first room's AC wasn't working. Maintenance came promptly, but while we were eating at the grill on site, she let us know it couldn't be fixed and moved us to an upgraded room. The grill was delicious and the service there was great, too. We'd decorated the first room for my son's birthday, but moving our things and decorating again was easy. The new room was wonderful, the AC worked great, and my son was over the moon. We really appreciated her making our first vacation in a while such a good experience.

The property is much more run down than the website makes it look, which was frustrating. The location is hard to beat if you're playing Pasatiempo, but the advertised “year round heated pool” was “closed for the season.” I was so disappointed that I paid for access to a pool at a much nicer nearby property through ResortPass. That's where we'll stay on our next Santa Cruz visit.

Our Saturday, May 3 stay with my wife and daughter was quiet, relaxing, and nice. The staff were very friendly, and the morning coffee and pastries were excellent. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, the pool was closed, so my daughter couldn't swim. With small kids, I'd recommend checking out nearby DeLaveaga park. Marianne’s Ice Cream is close, too, with lots of flavors for kids.

The location is excellent for the beaches, and the boardwalk is only a 10-15 minute drive, without having to deal with local traffic. The restaurant was a bit pricey, but the food was good. My main complaint was the pool: its electronic gate lock didn't work, so an employee had to unlock it and prop it open with a chair. The pool itself needs serious repairs and cleaning.
