Islander Motel Santa Cruz

The Rio Theatre and the Beach & Boardwalk are both within walking distance, which made this a great base for catching an event in Santa Cruz. For a budget motel, it had what I wanted: a clean room and sheets, a firm mattress, dependable wi-fi, and complimentary lobby coffee at breakfast. I’d gladly stay here again. My only small gripe was having powdered creamer for the coffee.

I slept really well every night, and the hotel was quiet, clean, and well kept. The proprietor was very nice, polite, and friendly. I only need one room, a large bed, and a basic bathroom when I travel alone or with my wife, so it’s nice not paying for a place with twice what I need. The price was good, too. There are lots of places for food and coffee within a ten minute walk, and the beach and the conference I attended were 22 minutes away on foot. Best Chinese Noodles I’ve had are just catty corner across the street. I’d absolutely stay again and recommend it.

We were there for two nights on vacation, just me and my son. I booked on Priceline and the price was really decent, actually lower than I’d expected when we arrived. The staff were very nice and I had no problems. It was five minutes from the boardwalk, and the room was clean. The bed was a little uncomfortable, but manageable. I’d stay again.

The Boardwalk is a reasonably short walk away, there are restaurants across the street, and coffee is available in the lobby until 11am. There’s a swimming pool too. For the price, the rooms have almost the same features as other places charging nearly twice as much, apart from the in room coffee service. Best value in Santa Cruz by far. Why stay anywhere else?
