One of my favorite Santa Cruz spots is Lighthouse Field State Beach. I love settling in to watch the waves and take in the ocean view. The surf sounds great, and the scenery stays beautiful whether the sun is out or it’s a foggy morning. It’s such a peaceful place to sit and relax. 🌊

I love walking and running along the paths here. They’re well cared for, and there’s always a bench where you can sit or stretch. You get stunning sunsets and moon rises in both directions. Lots of people bike, walk, and bring their dogs, so keep right on the marked sidewalks and watch for dog poop smears. Most people do try to clean up after their dogs.

This Santa Cruz coastal park is stunning, with both natural beauty and a rich surfing history. Lighthouse Field State Park, often called Lighthouse Field State Beach, has a lot of different things to appreciate.

Watching the surfers ride the waves was awesome. I was disappointed, though, to find the surf museum closed when we visited on Monday, even though the posted hours said it opened at noon. It was opening at 1:00 as we were leaving, so the Monday hours are wrong.

Right beside west cliff drive, this state park has walking paths and a few benches. The one bathroom still seems to be in poor shape. Parking can be tight on weekends, holidays, or when “surfs up.”
