Motel Santa Cruz Santa Cruz

Friendly owners, a good location, and a room that was decent for the price. We had a nice stay. The boardwalk or downtown is about a 15-minute walk, and dogs cost $25 per day. Five stars for a budget-friendly motel.

The outside looked nice, but inside was absolutely filthy and smelled so bad that my husband and I couldn't stay there. The photos were nothing like the actual rooms, and the price was ridiculous for the quality. The workers were rude and unprofessional. I cancelled and got a full refund, but the crew kept pushing us to leave after we said we were unhappy. One woman, I don't know who, told me, “you guys need to make up your mind if you are staying or not so you can go find a room somewhere else.” That attitude was bold, given how they treated us.

The location was the only real positive for me. I stayed two nights and didn't find bedbugs, but the rooms were tiny, the floors filthy, and my feet were black after I showered and walked around. There was no coffee maker or pool, parking was difficult, and vagrants roamed the property day and night. I heard an employee yelling at another worker about “mold growing in the shower of one of the rooms.” In the middle of the night, my key card stopped working, and it took over half an hour to fix. The stairs looked like they could collapse, which felt dangerous. I did manage a great recording session in my room, but it was embarrassing to have the engineer come over. I even had to ask for a chair for them, since there wasn't space for a cuck chair. Wouldn't recommend it.

SABRINA!! was incredibly sweet and helpful on the phone. I've never spoken with a receptionist as nice as her. She deserves a raise for that service.
