Boca Del Cielo Inn

The family who runs this place are so accommodating, and they share wonderful stories. The rooms are beautiful and romantic, though I was traveling solo. The boardwalk is nearby, with moonlit beach walks, games, and plenty of places to eat. The woman makes a mean breakfast. What stays with me most is the compassion and wisdom they offer without bias or prejudice. I’ll always come here when I’m in town.

The owners were sweet, helpful, and easy to talk to. The rooms are cozy and tidy, and the place was adorable, just what I picture a Mexican bed and breakfast looking like. It works for couples or families, and they welcomed my anxious 30 lb mutt too. Breakfast was delicious, with good conversation and coffee. It was our first visit to Santa Cruz, and we’ll definitely come back in summer and stay here again!

The Lighthouse room had no chest of drawers, just a clothes rack, though maybe some other rooms have more storage. I noticed a clawfoot tub in the Bayside room. The resident macaw makes herself heard in the mornings, but it’s probably quieter if you stay on the East side of the house. The place is only two blocks from the Boardwalk, and I thought it was totally worth the price. This is one of the most distinctive B&Bs I’ve stayed in, with an amazing collection of antiques and wonderful art from the owner and other artists. As of April '21, the property was for sale, and much of the art and its eclectic touches had been removed. Breakfast was plentiful and really yummy, enough to keep you going all day. Everyone working there was sweet and friendly. I’d definitely stay again someday.

The rooms were small but homey, and the amenities were great. Breakfast each morning was outstanding: hot fresh eggs, freshly cut and seasoned diced potatoes, good yogurt and fresh fruit, plus fresh coffee and several sweeteners. Outside, there were around ten tables scattered across the patios and a big wooden table out front where I worked on my computer using the free wifi. I loved the bird and the two cute dogs, and my dog Kenji loved them too. Peter and Maria, Jonas and Isabella, were wonderful hosts and made us feel special. Peter collects flags from countries that visit. The Philippines and USA were there, and Mexico was number one. I met some lovely guests at breakfast too. I’d stayed in Santa Cruz several times before and had promised myself I’d read reviews before my next trip. Boca Del Cielo’s reviews impressed me. I’d planned to come alone for a few days to relax, but at the last minute my wife said I had to bring our daughter and dog. I wasn’t sure if pets were allowed. Turns out they welcomed my little Kenjinator and gave him so much love. He was in Doggy Cruz Heaven. I highly recommend the place. Don’t expect the Ritz, expect the Taj Mahal. The accommodations and hospitality made us feel like royalty.
