Seaway Inn

The room feels thoughtfully designed and comfortable, even though there isn’t much space, which is what you’d expect from a motel. It’s a nice place in a great location.

We were in upstairs king room 223, with a partial water view. The decor is lovely, new, light, and bright. The layout worked well, with a counter and two chairs, fridge, microwave, closet, drawers, a comfortable chair and ottoman, plus a great shower and toiletries. Ventilation was good too, with AC, windows, and a sliding glass front door for the sea breeze. The beach and wharf are just a block away, and the boardwalk is a few more blocks on. We also walked out along W.Cliff Dr to watch the surfers and visit the Surf museum. Prices are reasonable during the week. We’ll be back.

Room 100 was tucked into a little corner without a view, but it was great. Small, well laid out, and decorated adorably, with what looked like recent renovations. We appreciated having a microwave and mini fridge. There were a few odd maintenance details that didn’t affect our stay: one switch didn’t operate any lights or devices, the face plate just inside the door wasn’t flush with the wall and I could fit my finger behind it, and another ceiling plate near the smoke detector was hanging down a little because it wasn’t fully screwed in. We only stayed one night. In the week beforehand, the hotel sent useful texts that let us contact the staff. Check-in was easy and the front desk associate was delightful. They let us leave our car in the lot while we had a late lunch before check-in. We may have been charged for two bottles of water at the front desk. We should have asked, but the information card we got at check-in suggested we could get ice and water there. I’d definitely stay again.

It’s clean and looks nice, and the location is good, but the room is tiny and humid because the air conditioners don’t work very well. The last night, our room’s fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night. We called the emergency number, but nobody answered and the voicemail box was full. I hope no one has a real emergency there. For the price, we were disappointed and wouldn’t return.
