Sea & Sand Inn Santa Cruz

We love this hotel and it’s our favorite in Santa Cruz. Oceanfront views come with breakfast, cookies and lemonade, plus wine and cheese. On our latest visit, there was a complication with our room, but Jessica at the front desk kept us informed and sorted it out. Thanks for the great service. We’ll always come back, and we’re never disappointed.

The outdoor fire pit seating was a highlight, with spectacular views of the beach and boardwalk. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise too: cheese omelette, bacon, country potatoes, and the best blueberry scones I’ve ever had. My spacious room was very clean and had incredible ocean views. Falling asleep to the waves and waking up to that view felt so relaxing and refreshing. The front desk staff were super friendly and welcoming. I had a wonderful stay at the Sea and Sand Inn and would happily return.

The location was excellent, the staff very nice, and breakfast was good. The grounds overlook the ocean, the pier, and the beach at the Boardwalk, and the room was nice, though not luxurious. I think we had one of the largest and nicest rooms there, and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was great. But there was a noticeable sewage smell in the bathroom, apparently coming from the shower drain. I suspect the gas trap was dry or had a problem. We didn’t report it because this seemed like the best location in the place, and repairs could have been extensive and taken a while. With the bathroom door closed, we couldn’t smell it in the room, so we just used the bathroom quickly. Compared with the place we stayed in Cambria for the three nights before, the room wasn’t as nice in most ways, but the location was excellent and I hope the problem can be fixed. Cleaning staff should have noticed it, and some plumbing work should already have been done. If your room doesn’t have this issue, I think you’ll be glad you stayed. I also think you’d like the excellent view and Santa Cruz experience from the third room from the right, facing the ocean on the bottom level.

It’s a quiet getaway, and every room looks out over the beach. The location is great. The place could use a remodel, but it was very clean, and we had no trouble finding parking despite it seeming limited. Staff were great. If you’re someone who enjoys a bath, the Jacuzzi tub upgrade is worth every cent. I’d recommend Sea and Sand.
