That private balcony looking out over the boardwalk made the stay for my husband Eric and me. It was peaceful and romantic, with the kind of coastal view we won't forget. The room was lovely too, and the Ocean Gate Inn has a charm and comfort that stood out to us. We arrived around 2:00 AM, expecting a slow check-in. The front desk gentleman came to the door within seconds, even though he had just been asleep, and greeted us warmly. His kindness and professionalism made us feel welcome right away. We’ve stayed in many places, but the service here and the beautiful accommodations have earned our loyalty. When we visit Santa Cruz, we won’t stay anywhere else. Thank you, Ocean Gate Inn, for a memorable experience. It felt perfect.

That balcony view is the reason to book here. We had a king room at Ocean Gate Inn, and the scene looked just like the Santa Cruz postcards and T-shirts, almost too perfect to be real. The room was comfortable and very quiet, and the elevator and ice machine both worked. The location and fair price were great, even for us locals looking for a break. Bob at the desk made things easy. Check-in went smoothly, he quickly arranged an extra night when we decided to stay longer, and when our car wouldn't start the next morning, he helped us get a jump with kindness and no attitude. He also showed us other rooms for a future visit and remembered our deposit before we did. We’re looking forward to seeing him again. This is our new go-to.

The location made my first Santa Cruz visit easy. Oceangate Inn Motel is close to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, restaurants, shopping, and other conveniences, all just minutes away. My room was spacious, comfortable, very clean, and fresh. The property seems well cared for. Bob at the front desk was friendly, professional, knew the area, and made sure I had what I needed. His welcome made my first visit feel especially nice. I’d happily stay here again and recommend it to first-time visitors or people coming back to town.

The owner was really friendly, and check-in and check-out were easy. My room was very clean, and the mini fridge, AC, and TV all worked great. I’ll stay here again next time I visit!

For the price, the boardwalk views from the balconies are hard to beat. This hotel is right in the heart of Santa Cruz, within walking distance of stores and taquerias, and somehow still feels like an underrated find. Bob at the front desk always has a warm smile and good energy. If you want a great view at a fair price, this place is worth checking out.
