Palm Motel

The staff were friendly and had great suggestions for local places to eat. This small family-run motel is a few blocks from the beach, with colorful, slightly retro rooms that have a lot of charm. Parking is limited, though street parking nearby is usually available. For the price and location, it’s a solid choice.

The rooms were dated and the TV wasn’t very big, but they worked fine for what we needed. We did miss having air conditioning and a microwave. There are plenty of food places nearby and a gas station right next door. We were overwhelmed by the prices of places around Santa Monica for a stay of about four nights, then found this place and liked its look and price. It was really cute when we arrived, with flowers all over the outside and tables and chairs by each room. We could eat together or just hang out outdoors. The staff were very friendly, and they cleaned up well even after we tracked in loads of beach sand. We had a great time and will try to book here again.

The bed was comfortable, the sheets were nice, and the desk and housekeeping staff were capable. The place was well run, without the nonsense you might expect from a cheap motel in this part of town. The outdoor tables and seating were a nice touch. Rooms are small and basic, kept up but showing their age. The shower is smaller than a closet, and there’s no air conditioning. You hear traffic, but not voices from neighboring rooms or the street.
