The Astro

Betty's warm welcome made the stay especially memorable, so look for her if she's around. The staff were very friendly, and we loved the beautiful garden and tasty breakfast. Astro Motel is a real gem for getting to wine country, with a great bed, shower, and lots to discover in the room and lounge.

Check-in was the strangest I've ever had. The place itself is super cute, and the rooms are adorable and nicely decorated. The mattress and bed were pretty comfortable. The AC was loud, but pressing a few buttons seemed to take care of it.

We barely slept, and spent most of the night waiting for checkout. The AC was so noisy, there was a lot of outside sound and noise coming from other rooms, and the beds and pillows were awful for us, leaving us with neck and body pain. I also didn't feel very safe around the immediate area. On the same street there were many people who appeared to be homeless or using drugs, and the limited parking made it hard to find a spot where we felt safe. We'd chosen this for a one-night visit to a couple of amazing nearby vineyards. The dog-friendly policy caught my eye, and the photos and reviews looked good. Staff were informative and check-in was easy, but the stay was really difficult. I was sincerely looking forward to a weekend getaway and was very dissatisfied.

The room had so many thoughtful details: mid-century photos, paintings, sculpture and lamps, teak furniture, vintage rugs, and retro finishes. It just felt good to spend time there. The platform bed was very comfortable, and there was water in the fridge, a nice TV, good water pressure, and both waterfall and handheld shower heads. It was quiet, too, which made it easy to relax. The place was immaculately clean. I'm picky and notice everything, and this was exceptionally clean. One of my favorite stops on a long road trip. I'll stay at Astro again when I'm in the area.
