For the price, the value was great, and my wife and I had a really good budget weekend away. Our beds were super comfortable, the bathroom was great, and breakfast was lovely and more than adequate. The water-saving showerhead was the one bathroom drawback, though I think that’s pretty normal in California. The place is cute, clean, and has nice amenities for what it costs. We used the fitness center every day and it worked perfectly for a travel workout. The pool was clean and nice, but expect noise and little kids around. We also wished the bar were open more often than just weekends. The front desk staff were nice, though not especially warm or outgoing. I travel a lot and don’t usually enjoy motels, but this is a great fit for someone with a young family, right in the middle of things. It’s not a five-star resort, but we enjoyed our stay.
The only snag was the $150 deposit. I booked and paid with Amex and don’t usually have to leave a deposit, though it was refunded to my card at checkout. The room was quiet and clean, and a good deal for the price. Breakfast was a nice little full breakfast, and the dining area was kept very clean. I’d come back if I were in the area again.
Our room was clean and had all the amenities we needed, but the service left me questioning how things are run. At 9am on checkout day, housekeeping came into our room without knocking and woke us up. I mentioned it to the front desk when we checked out. The associate just said they’d tell housekeeping, adding that the team starts at 8:30am. The information sheet in our room said housekeeping is scheduled every three days, and that extra service can be requested by dialing “0” from the room phone. It also said to ask before 11am for same-day service. Nobody apologized. It seemed like the employees weren’t on the same page and didn’t care about our stay.
The family suite was just the right size for me and my bridal party to get ready on my wedding morning. The beds and seating were really comfy, and breakfast was lovely. I always appreciate a place with waffle irons for fresh waffles. Booking a block of rooms for our out-of-town guests was easy to arrange with them, and the pricing was great. Check-in and checkout were quick, with friendly staff. I’ll definitely recommend it to future visitors.
The Sandman has really changed since I remember it in the 90s. It’s had a glow-up, and on my recent trip to Santa Rosa it turned out to be a great place to stay. The rooms were super clean, the kitchenette was handy, and it was surprisingly quiet. The hot tub was great too. It’s a large space but very well maintained. It’s not in the most exciting part of Santa Rosa, but I’d stay there again.
