Best Western Plus Santee Inn

We ate really well at the Captains restaurant right next door, and there’s a grassy area across the parking lot where we could walk our pup. Our dog-friendly room was spotless. The staff were upbeat and happy, and being right off I-95 made it very convenient. Great place to stay.

The staff were the real highlight, so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was hot, and the scrambled eggs were better than at other hotels we’ve tried. They also put out cookies after 2 PM, and they were VERY yummy! We had a peaceful two-night stay in a clean, well-arranged room with two comfortable queen beds and still enough space for a table. The place is a little old, so there’s some wear and tear, but everything worked. We liked the charming Southern style and calm atmosphere, and it’s quiet beside a golf course. There’s a good area for walking the dog. We didn’t use the heated pool, but sat by it to relax.

We stay here every year on our way between Ohio and Florida, and it’s about halfway along our trip. Finding a place that allows smokers and dogs in this area can be hard, so this works well. The rooms are clean and don’t smell like smoke or pets. They come with coffee, standard toiletries, a fridge, and a microwave. There’s a steakhouse next door, gas and fast food nearby, plus a pool and laundry room. The complimentary full breakfast buffet is a nice extra, and staff are friendly with good service. It’s a nice little motel right off 95, though weekends get a little pricey, like everywhere these days.

After being cramped in a rental during our travels, staying here was a good experience. Everyone was so kind, even the room service staff wished us a good morning and a great day. The breakfast team really knows hospitality. We called to check that our late arrival and reservation were still okay, and they guaranteed it. They also have a small nook store for convenience.
