I checked out today, 3/1/2026, after two nights at Hampton Inn 80 Shell st. Saraland, AL 36571. The first night was fine, but I got back very late the second night and found mold all over the bathroom. I told the so called “General Manager” BRANDI SMITH the next morning. She said she’d have the room cleaned and rented to someone else that night, and told me to speak with her at checkout. When I did, she wasn’t available, though I was hoping for compensation. The service was crappy, the managers even crappier, and the stay cost over $400. I’ve been a Hilton honor member for over 10 years, and this is unacceptable. Customer service couldn’t do anything for me when I called. Straight disgusting. Don’t stay in room 100. This was the absolute worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. Please proceed with caution. I’ll never stay at another Hampton Inn.

We arrived late, around 10:30 pm, with our puppy, and they found us a pet-friendly room so we didn’t have to keep driving. The hotel was clean and friendly, and our room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast had all my southern favorites, biscuits and gravy, grits, plus Phyllis' smile from the kitchen. We’d definitely stay again.

After driving five hours, we got in at 11pm and just wanted to sleep. The hotel knew there were three of us and we’d booked a suite, but there were no sheets for the hideabed. We had to use the main bed’s cover sheet, and the front desk didn’t answer. My son had brought his own pillow; otherwise we would’ve had to split pillows too.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location was great. We did notice stains on the carpet and behind the couch back, though I understand fixing that could mean replacing carpet and wallpaper during a renovation. The staff were among the best I’ve come across at any Hilton property as a Diamond member. They greeted us warmly and tried to help with anything we needed. I’d stay again without hesitation. Great job!

The breakfast area was roomy and well planned, with lots to pick from, including fruit, cereal, and hot food. Our king-size room was spacious and well equipped, and everything worked, even the USB ports. Hot water came right away, and Wi-Fi was simple to connect to with solid speeds, about 29 up / 29 down. The staff were super friendly and the place looked welcoming. The TV could use more channels, and they did require a deposit at check-in. Still, it was a comfortable, pleasant stay.
