Charleston Creekside Inn

My wife and I stayed overnight because it was fairly close to a restaurant where we planned to drink that evening. I’ve seen plenty of mixed reviews, so here’s my view as someone who spent years poor and is now well off. This is a nostalgic motel, not a Hilton, and it’s a $100 room, not a $400 one. The complimentary continental breakfast has cold or microwaved hot items, not gourmet brunch, and they don’t claim otherwise. I’ve read that the sidewalks and steps are stained, but that isn’t true: the concrete is painted and wears from heavy traffic. You get friendly staff, clean rooms, a comfy bed, good water pressure, a large TV, fridge and microwave, all at a low rate. It’s well lit at night and sits by a beautiful marsh. If you’re bougie or used to high-end places, you’ll hate it. If you’re down to earth and just want a safe, clean overnight stay that doesn’t cost too much, you’ll like it.

What a nice surprise this motel has been. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff have been friendly and helpful every time. Vanessa deserves a special mention: her upbeat energy is contagious, and she made us feel especially welcome. It’s clear the people here care, and that makes a big difference. Highly recommend!

The room at Charleston Creekside Inn was quiet, clean, comfortable, and fresh, with a great creek view. The bed was among the most comfortable I’ve slept in at a hotel. Great location, fair price, and outstanding service all around. My stay was perfect, and I’ll definitely return next time I’m in Charleston. Highly recommend.

Latrell was incredibly patient when super.com, the unhelpful third party, made it difficult to add my name to the reservation. Thanks for helping sort it out and keeping me off the streets that night! The room was pleasantly surprising for a motel and seemed to have had most things updated, including the bed and TV. It was clean except for quite dusty bathroom and AC fans. The shower grout needs some love, and the tub was a bit janky: the knob spun hot-cold-hot without stopping, and the spout stuck out oddly from the wall. Water pressure was nice if you weren’t using the sink at the same time, and the water stayed hot. For a motel, pretty good. A plastic shower curtain would really help, since the cloth one let water through and nearly flooded the bathroom. Point the shower head away from the curtain! The locks were solid and the slat blinds worked fine, though a curtain to block the light would be nice. The walls were thin, so bring headphones in case the neighbors watch TV all night. That was within expectations for a motel. I paired my own headphones to the smart TV, which worked well. I had trouble signing out of Prime on the TV in the morning because of network issues. If that happens, disconnect the login through the app on your phone. Thanks again, Latrell!
