Eagle Inn Charleston

The front desk man was friendly, and the price was great, though you get what you pay for. The room needed a serious deep clean. There were moldy spots at the bottom of the shower curtain and the front door was filthy. I didn't mind the old decor. The mattress felt better than you'd expect when you first sat down, and the fridge kept things very cold. The shower was hot with good pressure, but it was still funky. We only got one towel, with no washcloths or anything else.

I paid about $83 for one night in a smoking room with a king bed. The bed was comfortable but had just three pillows, so I'd bring more if there are multiple people. Bring extra towels and washcloths too. The front panel of the AC wasn't secured to the unit, the toilet paper holder flopped around because it wasn't fixed to the wall, and there was melted wax on the carpet that nobody had bothered to remove. There weren't any ashtrays in the room, even though it was a smoking room. Checkout was at 11 a.m. I had car trouble and was trying to charge my battery, but at 10:50 the owner was already telling me to get my things out so housekeeping could clean. She wouldn't wait ten minutes and wasn't nice about it. If you want people to come back, a little human decency would help.

The room was clean and fine for a night at that price. The shower was nice, and the beds were comfortable. You could see where both the room door and bathroom door had been kicked in, and the toilet was barely attached to the floor. I reported the toilet, and they said they'd fix it right away. The man who checked us in and out was very nice and professional. Not a bad stop for the money.

Parking for big trucks is a real plus. My room was clean and everything worked, so I'll stop here again when I'm in the area.
