Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Savannah Southside

We drove from CT to Georgia and I'd happily stay here again. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the hotel was accommodating, and one spacious, comfortable room fit my husband, our four small children, and me. The beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly. Thank you Paul and your staff. Breakfast was hot and varied. The daily menu changed, with choices like cold and hot cereal, waffles, fresh French toast, boiled and scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon. The room had plenty of towels and generous supplies of lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in larger containers, plus makeup wipes, a blower, and an iron with board. There was a Keurig, so bring your own K-Cups. The kitchen area was roomy, with a table and about six or eight outlets. The pool water was heated. I didn't use the gym, but there is a workout area. No complaints from me, 10/10 for us.

We were driving to Florida and picked Savannah as a sensible stop. The 4.4 rating and reasonable price sent us straight here, but I felt misled. We arrived late and left early, so I can't comment on the pool or breakfast. The lobby was generally clean, the staff interaction was reasonable, and the well-lit parking lot was clean. There's an Olive Garden next door if you're in the mood for breadsticks. The room was a big disappointment. The couch didn't look clean enough to sit on, and the carpet was only in mediocre shape. There was a hole in the wall beside a thermostat that didn't work. Adjusting the temperature meant using old-fashioned dials on a loud unit just a few feet from the bed, which ran all night. The TV seemed at least 15 years old and couldn't get a clear signal on any channel I tried, so I gave up. The bathroom wasn't pleasant, and the shower head had either mold or extensive water stains. I took the stairs because we were near them, then regretted it: children's underwear was on the floor, and the carpet was so stained and dirty I'd have preferred the elevator. The bed was average at best. After the hotel chain emailed for feedback, I sent in a similar review. They replied within a reasonable time that they'd share it with the team, but I doubt much will change without an extensive remodel. If you want a reasonably priced place with a three-star-at-most experience, this may suit you. Just don't be misled by the high rating.

I was worried I'd catch something if I stayed. There were white marks on the seats, the bathtub was peeling and gritty with dirt and grime, something clear and sticky in the fridge, and crumbs and bits of trash in the corners. I found a dirty tissue wedged between the mattress and headboard. Walking down the hall, I felt holes or indentations in the floor. There was a strange perfume smell, and my doorway looked like someone had used a crowbar on it. The neighborhood didn't make me feel very safe either. Look at the pictures, this place was gross. Who's writing good reviews for it? I booked through priceline, and they said my refund request was under review because I'd chosen a “no cancellation” reservation. I showed up, but I don't think I should have to stay somewhere filthy and lose my money. The one good thing was the very sweet, apologetic woman at the counter. She offered to move me, but I declined because the bad feeling had already broken my trust.

We stayed at Country Inn and Suites at 11317 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA from September 19-21, 2025, and the staff made us feel cared for from the start. They even greeted us with fresh-baked cookies and a soft drink at check-in. Asha Raval was at the front desk several times during our visit. She had such a phenomenal spirit, always greeted us with a smile, and made sure we felt comfortable. The location was convenient and felt safe, and the atmosphere was relaxing. Our spacious room was clean and thoughtfully arranged, with a separate living and work area, wet bar, refrigerator, and microwave. The large bathroom and common spaces were spotless and well maintained. Breakfast was complimentary and delicious. We've paid much more elsewhere and gotten less than we did here. It's an affordable, comfortable hidden gem, and we've already recommended it to friends and family. We'll stay again next time we're in Savannah.
