Embassy Suites by Hilton Savannah

The hotel’s service, location, and overall layout, including the garage, set it apart from many nearby places. We’ve stayed two or three times a year for the past four years because our child attends SCAD, and the staff and service have been excellent. But the physical state of the property has become a real problem. There was a rubber smell in the hallways almost every time, and the rooms are badly worn, with stained rugs and sofas, worn furniture, loose tiles, missing parts of doorknobs, and outdated bathrooms. Even the lobby seating was run down. The hotel should be an easy five stars based on its location and service, but the deterioration takes away from the staff’s great work. After our last visit, 5/27-5/31, the value no longer felt the same, and we’ve decided to look elsewhere. We’re sad to leave after so many stays, but if the property keeps declining, it will lose repeat guests like us.

The room was better than I expected, and even had “welcome Russell” scrolling across the TV. The BYO omelet was great, and so was the concierge service. I highly recommend the hotel. The only snag came at checkout over the parking garage. When we signed up for Hilton Rewards, I was told the $40 daily fee would be waived. The clerk then tried to charge me $80, but waived it after I explained what I’d been told and said she’d check with her manager.

My sisters and I had a really enjoyable stay. Our suite was comfortable, clean, and very nice, and the staff were excellent. We also liked the pool and breakfast. I’d definitely recommend this hotel for the roomy, comfortable rooms, great amenities, and excellent staff.

The made-to-order breakfast wasn’t up to the standard I’m used to from Embassy, though it was still decent, and there were also Continental items. The rooms were clean, with nothing that stood out as a problem. The property is well maintained and the staff are friendly. It’s conveniently located for downtown Savannah, with a parking garage next to one of the main entrances. Garage parking cost $40. I’d stay here again.
