Hampton Inn Savannah-Historic District

I was in town for business from 11/16-11/20 2025, and the location was great for getting around, especially to the river. It’s just across the street. The hotel was very clean, and the young clerk whose name starts with a J was always smiling and helpful. They first put me in room 408, but there was barely any hot water, so I was moved to 217. In the new room, I found used washcloths still hanging in the shower and some things left behind by the previous guest. Breakfast was okay, though I don’t think they use real eggs. Apart from those things, it was a good stay in a great spot.

The manager offered 20,000 rewards points, a free night at any Hilton resort, and/or money off my current stay. I appreciated the offer, but with all the problems I’d had, it didn’t feel like enough. My room didn’t seem properly cleaned. The previous guest’s underwear was still on the hook behind the bathroom door, and the hand soap dispenser was empty. Only one elevator was running over the weekend, so the waits were long. The phone in my room was broken, which meant I had to go downstairs in person to reach the front desk. On top of that, the guests upstairs were extremely loud late at night, and I couldn’t get much rest. I wanted to enjoy my stay, and I can see potential here, but cleanliness, maintenance, and noise need attention.

The paid valet was convenient and efficient throughout my stay. I also found the facilities clean, comfortable, and welcoming, with a generous breakfast selection that was kept in good shape. The location is fantastic, right in Savannah’s historic district and only steps from the riverfront, so the main attractions are easy to explore. It’s a well-run hotel.

7/10/25: This was the worst Hampton ever. There was a serious storm, and parking was a mess. The spots meant for loading only weren’t marked, and one spot had no sign at all. We went out for dinner later and found a soggy, torn-up hotel letter on the windshield saying we couldn’t park there because it was for unloading only. Then the first room had four ceiling leaks, with black mold, and we could hear the drops hitting the carpet. In the second room, bugs ran around the bathroom as soon as the light came on. We’d had enough and left. The Midtown Hampton was cleaner and better, even though that hotel was being remodeled.
