Holiday Inn Express & Suites Savannah W - Chatham Parkway by IHG

We usually find Holiday Inn Express and Suites hotels quite satisfactory, but wouldn’t return to the Savannah Chatham Parkway location. The lobby and breakfast room were extremely cold, so cold that reception staff wore outdoor clothes both morning and night, and we couldn’t eat breakfast there. It made for a very bad first impression. The heating system itself wasn’t broken. It seemed to be a design issue, possibly because the windows were poor quality or badly installed. I expect repairs could be expensive, but IHG has the resources to address it. Guests and staff deserve better.

The room was roomy and very clean, and the shower pressure was amazing. They provided soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a hair dryer, tea and coffee. Parking was good, including spots for trailers, and staff greeted us whenever we passed the desk. Breakfast was complimentary and fine given the circumstances. I also used the treadmill without any problems.

I’m a loyal IHG Rewards member and stay at Holiday Inn Express hotels often, but this one needs room upgrades, especially in the showers. The heads were coming away from the wall, pressure was weak, and the showerhead was only about five feet high. I was first put in room 216, then asked to move and got room 222. Both had the same issues, and neither was properly cleaned. The photos I attached were from a room they called clean. When I complained, the receptionist seemed not to care and said I should’ve spoken up earlier so they could clean room 216 for another guest. The beds were decent and breakfast average. Those were the only good parts. Don’t be fooled by the five-star reviews, choose another Savannah Holiday Inn Express.

The ladies were so welcoming and the customer service was top notch. When our toilet clogged, the evening desk clerk came to plunge it herself, even though we were ready to do it. Santa was in the lobby and we got family photos with him, the only ones we’ll have from our month-long road trip. Thank you, ladies!
