Planters Inn on Reynolds Square

The lobby had a cozy, friendly feel, with lemon water, coffee, and cookies in the evening. I also appreciated the birthday bottle of wine from the hotel. I just wish the lobby activities ran on weekends too. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Street noise was pretty loud, and I got under six hours of sleep across two nights, but the sleep I did get was deep and restful. The valet and doorman service was the weak point. I can’t say whether skipping valet parking affected the basic courtesy, but the greetings and service felt lacking. For parking, Bryan Street Garage was a good deal at about $5 a night, or around $11 during events. Congress Street Garage came close to valet pricing, so valet might make more sense there. The hotel really fit Savannah’s charm and atmosphere.

We chose Planters Inn for our anniversary, and they gave us a very kind gift that made the occasion feel special. The staff were attentive and friendly, and we enjoyed the complimentary wine tasting and evening cookies. Its downtown Savannah location worked very well, and we liked the attractive rooms and decor. It was a pleasant, memorable stay.

The free wine hour runs from 4:30-6:00, a nice way to kick off the evening. The location is excellent for getting around, and the staff are always friendly. The beds are small, and the mattresses were too soft for my taste, though some people may like that.

We could walk to nearly everything on our itinerary, and the historic Pink House is right next door. The fifth-floor room was just right, though the tub caulk needs attention and the toilet seat could use an update. The lovely building and lobby have plenty of Southern charm. They held a well-attended wine and cheese happy hour each evening.
