Sleep Inn Savannah Midtown

The staff have been kind, and the rooms are very clean. When we found the TV didn’t work at check-in, they moved us to a downstairs room. That suited me since I’m pregnant and our bags were heavy, and the room was just as nice with a better view. The GM was very welcoming, and I’m thinking of extending my stay instead of going to the other place down the way. The courtyard gets lovely sunlight and feels peaceful in the shade. With the hotel set back from the main road, I feel like I have plenty of privacy. I’ll be in town for a few weeks while working on the island, and this may be where I stay. The location is nice, the mall is close, and breakfast is okay.

The refrigerator and microwave were clean and worked, and the water was hot, but there were plenty of problems. It’s an old building with old furniture, a small TV, and not much cleanliness. The tub drained poorly. The kitchen sink light and garbage disposal didn’t work, and the headboard light was out. I found its three-prong cord plugged into a two-hole extension cord, so I unplugged it, straightened the ground prong, and plugged it directly into the wall. That fixed the light. Trash and towels sat in the hallways for long periods, especially at night. Though it’s a non-smoking hotel, the hallways and side entrance smelled like smoke. One side door also failed to shut fully by itself, despite a sign telling guests to keep it locked for safety. I closed it and checked the lock three separate times.

The rooms were very clean and the location was great, but the breakfast at Sleep Inn Savannah Midtown was a real disappointment. There were only two cereal choices, nothing hot, and just butter in the refrigerator unit. Edit after the owner’s response: I went during the posted breakfast hours, and there still weren’t any hot items. The hotel website shows three warming units, which made me expect hot breakfast food, but none were out during my stay.

We stayed two nights. The room was decent and reasonably clean, and the breakfast area was clean too, though the options were basic: bread, waffles, juice, cereal, and coffee. For the price, the quality felt fair. But from the first day, housekeeping left two full trash bags and a pile of used towels right outside our door. We thought they were in the middle of servicing a room, but the rubbish and dirty towels were still there when we checked out two days later. The maintenance process needs to be inspected and changed, or maybe they’re trying to imply something? The hallway also always smelled of weed, so avoid it if you have security concerns.
