The elevator button to go down from the fourth floor didn’t work, and there was no sign or warning at check-in. I waited five minutes for an elevator that wasn’t coming. At check-in they said breakfast was served from 7 to 10; when I said I hadn’t known about it and that it sounded nice, they told me it cost $16. They should check the reservation before offering it and then explaining it’s extra. The room was dirty, with an unclean floor, water stains and dark marks on the ceiling, and glitter everywhere that wasn’t ours. The worn-out comforter needs replacing. The TV shut off and wouldn’t come back on, and several channels had no signal due to poor internet. There were no nice room amenities, the shower pressure and temperature were strange, and the bathroom was kind of gross. The hotel is extremely outdated. Priceline called it four-star, which may have been true 20 years ago, but it feels more like a two-star motel now. I assumed a Double Tree Hilton in Schaumburg would be nicer. Very disappointing, and I won’t return or recommend it.

The room was quiet, clean, and felt safe for the night, and the breakfast was reasonably priced and practical. The hotel met expectations for what it cost, but it definitely isn’t four-star. Maintenance is an obvious problem: the elevator would take me to the third floor, but the down button there didn’t light up or call an elevator, so I had to use the stairs to get back down.

When I raised my complaints, staff told me there was nothing they could do, mainly because I’d booked through Priceline. The room had stained and peeling wallpaper, and there’s no room service unless requested, which I understand is one of those changes that stuck around post-COVID. The cold common areas outside the lobby made the drafts in my room feel worse. I had to set the heat to 74° to get comfortable, even though I initially gave that a pass because of the winter storm in Chicagoland. The shower never got properly warm or hot, while the sink water was scalding. My pillows were flimsy and worn out, though there were enough of them to compensate a little. The TV kept going out. An attendant showed me how to press channel up four or five times because the first channels had weak signals, and he got it working when he came up. I was afraid to turn it off during my two-night stay in case it wouldn’t come back on. I checked in at about 4 PM on Saturday, January 24th, 2026. The staff were pleasant and quick then, and I dropped my bags and went out. When I returned around 11 PM, the problems became clear. I usually have no complaints about DoubleTree, and Hilton service and quality are normally on point. The location is the best thing about this hotel, but this one feels like everything except the building has been shipped offshore. Priceline advertised it as four-star, but it definitely isn’t, more like two-star.

We stayed two days, and the room was clean, but service could definitely be better. I’m sitting in the lobby waiting for towels that the front desk said would take over an hour to get. The lobby had run out, and the front desk lady seemed not to care. When I asked her about it, she told me, “don’t harass me.” That was very rude and unprofessional. Our room wasn’t cleaned after the first day, and we were told we had to request cleaning each day. There wasn’t a door handle tag to let housekeeping know. Reading the Google reviews, this seems to be a repeated guest complaint, and the owners don’t appear to address the main issue, which is service.

I stayed eight nights, and the heat stopped working on night four. They sent up a space heater, and maintenance said it was fixed, but it wasn’t, even with 22-degree weather outside. No one offered to move me; when I asked, they said they’d send maintenance. The TV only worked on a few channels, and others had no sound. There was no service to the room. Two outlets worked, both behind the desk, and one side of the bed had no side table. One elevator kept sticking and hadn’t been inspected since 2024. At the restaurant, they brought the bill handwritten on paper, and I could either charge it to my room or pay cash. Odd. Really disappointing for a Hilton.
