Courtyard by Marriott Indianapolis Downtown

The lobby bistro is where I’d choose to eat around here, and they have gluten-free options for people with celiac disease like me. Heather in the kitchen is great, and Nate was the best bartender and server I’ve had at a hotel like this. I travel every weekend for motorcycle races, and his attitude, service, and honesty really impressed me. The hotel itself was great too. I’d give that team 10 stars if I could.

Even with the race weekend crowds and the difficulty finding parking, I had a really good stay and would come back to Indy. I got a room without booking ahead, and the staff were quick, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Heather at the bistro made little goodie bags for the INDY500, which was such a thoughtful touch and helped me relax before a big test.

The front desk team made a strong impression. They were SOOOOO friendly at both check-in and check-out, and happy to chat about our trip. That service, along with the location, would make me consider staying here again. My room was clean and comfortable for sleeping. The bed felt good, the shower was nice, the curtains blocked out the light completely, and I liked having a mini fridge. But the AC worked poorly enough that the hallway felt cooler than the room. There wasn't bathroom ventilation, so it got humid after showers. The outlets also didn't hold plugs securely. The location is close to everything downtown, so I could walk for my whole trip, and the price seemed somewhat reasonable for that. The elevators were concerning: some floor buttons were crooked, one elevator dipped when I stepped in, and the service elevator stopped on floors we hadn't chosen, so we had to switch elevators. I was also bothered by the pricing. Before arrival, I got an email offering “customizable” add-ons, then found that parking cost at least $35 a night, which felt steep on top of room rates that already seemed a bit high for the location. I understand the location affects the price, but my final receipt didn't match the amount quoted at the front desk, which also differed from what I saw at checkout. I'll be reaching out about that. The staff and walkable location were the best parts. For a modern-style hotel at this price, I expected better upkeep on the AC, outlets, bathroom ventilation, and elevators. I may return if routine maintenance is being handled, but for what I paid this was a three-star stay.

We were in town for our anniversary and a Pacers game, and Diamond at the front desk made us feel special. She checked us in quickly and kindly, then came up with goodies and an anniversary card signed by her and the staff. It was such a thoughtful gesture. The hotel was quiet and in a great area. I've stayed here pretty often and will be back. Thank you, Courtyard : )
